I've just started experimenting with the trial version and there are a couple of questions I'd like to ask.

1...From the limited testing I've done, it seems that it will allow me to have entries with duplicate asset numbers and duplicate serial numbers. Is it possible to warn when this happens so that items don't accidentally get added twice.

2... Is it possible to link up with a barcode scanner? I'd like to put bar coded asset tag stickers on all our equipment and use a scanner to record them.

3... Following on from the last question, is there an audit date recorded anywhere? We have a requirement by our auditors that all equipment must be audited at least once a year. I'd like to be able to scan the asset tag and have the audit date automatically added to the database.

4... Can I use a csv file on the trial version to load in my existing database?

Thanks

Pete

Hello Peter, welcome to Parago.

This is possible and we have already considered ways to make this happen. Our development plan includes the ability to build a set of processes that would be run against user accounts periodically (eg. every 24 hours) to do checks like this and notify you when problems are identified.

The answer to this question depends on the barcode scanner and the level of integration. Some barcode scanners simply replace the keyboard as an input device on a standard computer or PDA. These devices are able to enter data into the Parago website without any extra configuration. Simply browse to the site, put the cursor in the field where you want to record the barcode and scan it. The device should "type" the barcode into the field.

More sophisticated barcode scanners are also available that would require development effort to integrate their systems with Parago. A number of schools have requested this feature but unfortunately not enough yet to justify the development costs involved.

In the current version of the system we do not have a place to record the date of the last audit. However, in the next update due to be put live over the next few days there is.

As for being able to scan a barcode and have the asset tag updated automatically see my answer to your previous question.

The trial version does not support this feature.

Thanks for your questions. If you require any further information please don't hesitate to ask.
